Pattern Inspiration | Mushroom Spore Prints

With Autumn firmly in place here in the Pacific Northwest, it has been nonstop rain. And with rain come mushrooms. Everywhere. This got me thinking, how can mushrooms be used for print making? Turns out of course that it’s an old tradition, originally used to identify mushrooms. All you have to do is remove the stems off of freshly picked mushrooms and lay them down on paper for a few days. The spores will release onto the paper making a beautiful ghostly image. Here is a lovely tutorial.
