Abstract Painting, 2000, 67 cm x 52 cm

Gerhard Richter is a giant in the art world, creating influential work from the 60’s until now. He is known for working in different styles, from completely abstract as shown here to extremely photoreal, and yet most of his paintings exhibit illusionistic space, and his signature blur technique.

We print designers might find inspiration in his use of space, the drag technique he uses to create a type of illusionistic stripe, and his boldness and originality with mark making.
