Erdem Prints

We can’t get enough of Erdem. His tightly tailored creations and constantly changing prints keep us coming back for more. So, when we heard he had created an exclusive collection for matchesfashion.com we had to check it out. Based on his archive prints, Erdem visited past collections for inspiration. “I looked at AW09, SS09 and also found a print that was never used from a spring collection. I reprinted them on fabrics that I hadn’t used before, such as stretch cotton for the trousers and cotton poplin for the tops with sweet little white collars; the original garments were cut in silk satin or washed silk crepes,” says Erdem. Delicate floral prints cascade in a waterfall-like effect while a dark botanical design casts a moodier spell. To stay inspired, the designer states, ‘My eyes are always open. I’m always looking at everything…I go to galleries and museums a lot. I love contemporary photography, I collect little bits and bobs. I just bought [a] Wolfgang Tillmans print. My last holiday was in Sweden after the show, and I’m off to a Greek island soon…’
