Last week Dubai played host to the Middle East’s very first international design fair. Located at the bottom of the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa, the exhibition showcased 22 international and local designers and galleries all under one tent. The mixture of well known talent and new local players gave the event an exciting energy of ‘newness’.

My favourite piece is the beautiful, sculptural wall light 6302 Spoons by Najla El Zein. It’s a really clever use of a forgotten household item and en masse transforms into a textural, moving light that throws shimmering shadows around a room.
