Interiors | The Rock

Wellington’s newly completed international airport ‘The Rock’ has been described as a pyramid of adjoining beams that ‘says sculpture rather than building’. With it’s striking copper exterior and interior, the design brings together industrial elements that exude both warmth and luxury.

Taking inspiration from the surrounding New Zealand environment, architects Warren & Mahoney have created a visual link between the airport and Wellington’s rocky coastline, imitating the strong angles and unevenness of the natural, weathered stone.
