The Rake's Progress | David Hockney

Summer’s garden opera season has started here in London and with it comes the revival of Stravinsky’s, The Rake’s Progress, featuring sets by artist, David Hockney. Originally created for the 1970s version staged at Glyndebourne, the pen and ink scribbled sets reappear holding their charm and bringing a quirky and graphic touch to the usual grandiose opera style. This modernized tale with the moral, “For idle hearts and hands and minds the Devil finds a work to do,” is based on a series of paintings and engravings by William Hogarth. Enjoy a picnic and some culture at Glyndebourne’s unique garden opera house located in East Sussex.
